1490 CO2 Laser Cutter for Large Non-Metal Sheets

The VankCut-1490 is a large-format CO2 laser engraving and cutting machine built around a 1400 × 900 mm processing area. It is intended for qualified acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF, paper, laser-safe textiles, natural leather and other documented non-metal materials used in signage, displays, packaging, models and custom-product production.

80-150 W Source Options

Choose 80, 100, 130 or 150 W nominal output according to the material, thickness, edge requirement and production rate. Any higher-output request requires a separately engineered chassis, optical path, power supply, cooling and extraction package.

1400 × 900 mm Work Area

The nominal 1400 × 900 mm bed accepts larger signs, panels, packaging sheets and nested parts. Confirm usable travel, sheet access and pass-through requirements before ordering.

Belt and Linear-Guide Motion

The XY gantry uses a belt-drive and linear-guide arrangement suited to large-format non-metal cutting and engraving. Rail size, motor type, acceleration and acceptance criteria are confirmed for the ordered configuration.

Source-Matched Water Cooling

An active chiller matched to the selected tube and site conditions controls coolant temperature and flow. The final chiller model, coolant specification and alarm interface are stated in the quotation.

Qualified Engraving and Cutting

Power, speed, focus, air assist and extraction are tuned to the actual material. Finished-edge quality, detail and throughput are approved with customer files and samples rather than a universal speed or precision claim.

Qualified Materials

Typical candidates include cast or extruded acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF, paper, cardboard, laser-safe stamp rubber, selected textiles and documented natural leather. Glass, stone and coated ceramics may accept surface engraving. Never process PVC, vinyl, PVB, PTFE, halogenated materials, epoxy, phenolic resin, carbon fiber, chromium(VI)-containing leather or unidentified plastics and composites.

Which options should be matched to my products?

Options are selected from the customer's largest part, thickness range, material support, cylindrical diameter and required workflow. Confirm usable Z clearance and fixture space after the option is installed.

  1. Motorized Z worktable for thicker parts and rotary-fixture clearance.
  2. Red-dot pointer and focus probe to assist positioning and repeatable setup; final focus still follows the selected lens and material.
  3. Roller rotary for suitable cylindrical items such as approved glassware and bottles, subject to diameter, weight and surface testing.
  4. Chuck rotary for supported round parts that require positive clamping; jaw range, length, weight and Z clearance must be confirmed.

FAQ

What materials can a CO2 laser engraving/cutting machine process?

It can process qualified acrylic, wood, plywood, MDF, paper, cardboard, laser-safe stamp rubber, selected textiles and documented natural leather. Suitability depends on composition, thickness, additives, fumes and flame behavior, so review the SDS and test a sample. PVC, vinyl, PVB, PTFE, halogenated materials, epoxy, phenolic resin, carbon fiber and unidentified polymers or composites are prohibited.

Can a CO2 laser cut or engrave metal?

This 1490 configuration is intended for non-metals and does not cut bare metal. It may remove paint or mark certain coated or anodized surfaces after testing, but that is a coating process rather than bare-metal engraving. Metal cutting requires a purpose-built fiber laser or a separately engineered mixed-metal CO2 system.

Why is the laser tube not emitting light or losing power?

Stop the job and follow the service procedure. Check controller alarms, emergency stop, lid/interlock state, chiller temperature and flow, coolant hoses, optical cleanliness and the approved test signal.

Do not bypass the flow switch or open the high-voltage laser power supply. A trained technician should isolate tube, power-supply or control faults.

What maintenance does the chiller and water cooling system require?

Use only the coolant and service interval approved for the delivered tube and chiller. Keep the condenser and air filter clean, maintain unobstructed airflow, and inspect hoses for leaks or algae.

Monitor temperature and flow alarms, protect the loop from freezing and condensation, and isolate power before draining or servicing. Follow the chiller manufacturer's manual rather than a fixed universal schedule.

What is the difference between CO2 and fiber lasers?

A 10.6 µm CO2 laser is commonly selected for acrylic, wood, paper, textiles and other approved organics. A 1 µm-class fiber laser is generally selected for metals and some engineering plastics. The correct platform depends on material absorption, part geometry, required finish, thickness and production rate.

What working area sizes are common?
